Are you guilty of keeping appliances for years and years? You’re not alone. But after lots of kitchen activity over Thanksgiving, it might be painfully obvious that changes are indeed necessary.

Is it time for a new microwave?

The average life span of a microwave

  • 8 years

When to replace:

  • If the door doesn’t close properly
  • It makes strange noises while in use
  • If food isn’t being heated properly

What to look for in a new microwave:

  • Choose a model and style that suits your kitchen
  • Decide which cooking method is right for you (convection vs. sensor)

How to make it last:

  • No matter what, keep it clean
  • Never overload it
  • Make sure it is positioned correctly and has sufficient room for proper ventilation
