In previous posts, we’ve discussed how to tell when your microwave or refrigerator needs replacing. But what about the dishwasher?
The average lifespan of a dishwasher:
12 years
When to replace:
- If it doesn’t drain properly
- If it doesn’t heat up properly
- If it’s clogged
- If it’s leaking
What to look for in a new dishwasher:
- Energy Star compliance
- Finish
- Hi-tech features that are convenient and easy to use
How to make it last:
- Wash only when you have a full load
- Be sure to clear dishes of excess food to prevent clogging
- Test the hardness/softness of your water… soft water works better for dishwashing
